Regarding Mitch McConnell. His childhood disease was polio. A very moving story of his Mom not giving up and eventually rehabing her son to the point he could walk. But you could still see effects of the polio decades later.

The caution Mitch exhibited when approaching stairs to a podium, the stilted way he has ALWAYS walked (not just in old age). It was all muscle weakness, not a neurological problem.

And then his muscle weakness caught up to him; he fell and took a concussion at the age of 80. The older you are, the harder it is to recover from a concussion. And the longer it takes to recover, (which is an ironic tragedy, it takes longer for the elderly to recover from a concussion, and the elderly have less time to recover. If it takes a teenager 6 moths to completely recover, and 12-18 months for someone in their forties, it might take 3 years for someone in their 80s, and they might not have that kind of time.)

Knowing that you're cognitive problems are the result of an accident and not a disease process has got to be very frustrating. That the problem is the that you fell due to muscle weakness, that youve had to deal with and maneuver around all your life, has to be particularly wrenching.

Props to Mitch for realizing that the fall and the concussion was simply being dealt a bad hand late in life, and to deal with his newfound limitations with some grace.

FYI ONLY - for Kevin's daughter: (re: distance mankind has travelled at 41:54 in Video)

Made me interested enough to take a sec to look it up.

Was great thought and it does put things in perspective...

According to NASA.gov website - Sun is 8.3 light-minutes from Earth

- Voyager has travelled in 47 years 3 months a mere 22 light hours from Earth. Like, nothing... Does not even qualify as a cosmic fart.

Love this annual review - Thanks boys!

I guess it was more about my prediction that we are entering an age of piety

I enjoyed this discussion and I think we can't have blinders on about trends just because they aren't popular with everyone. Looking forward to seeing your writeup about this JRY!
