Is Biden already a lame duck?
Chief of Staff retweets a "Harris - Buttigieg 2028" suggestion
I still believe Joe Biden will run again in 2028. But this is pretty interesting.
Ron Klain is the Chief of Staff for Joe Biden. If he is doing something as audacious as this it would presume that he either has a healthy trolling streak, got a little loose on Twitter after pre-gaming for the Super Bowl by shotgunning White Claws or he knows Biden isn’t going to run and he’s greasing the wheels.
Let’s focus on the most tantalizing option. IMO you have to rip the band aid off quickly if Biden isn’t going to run. He doesn’t have to announce it but you have to sell to Washington that Biden and Harris are co-presidents and she should inherent enough of the credit on his achievements so she can credibly steamroll a primary and run as a squint-and-it-makes-sense incumbent.
Pete being the anointed veep makes sense. Well, unless your name is Klobuchar. But it’s also a ticket of two candidates that failed to gain grassroots traction in the primaries. They will almost certainly face a progressive challenge.

New Zealand has effectively no Covid, we have the most, per-capita, out of any country on the planet. Area of country and population of country doesn't matter, since we don't exceed in either and New Zealand isn't on the other end of either. We clearly could have done better. - BRIAN
I don’t think there is any doubt that is the city of Los Angeles, which has roughly the same population as New Zealand, had established a physical barrier border, authorized the man power to enforce it and refused entry to all from outside of Los Angeles… yes, LA could have the same results.
New Zealand has got a few advantages on Los Angeles. Being an island helps cut down cost on constructing, maintaining and enforcing a land barrier. Not sure how LA would feel about building a wall as Trump ran for re-election either. New Zealand also has all the Hobbit stuff. Not sure that’s a medical benefit but it’s pretty good vibes.

No SAG coverage? Are you a member of SAG from your movie career as crack addict #2? - SEAN W
Full disclose, since we started house hunting I’ve been trying to scrape by. Totally missed the SAG thing.

Thanks for your take on the AOC kerfuffle. Believe me, I loathe her policy positions but I understand her reaction and for me this is 95% a media story as you say. However, comparing Republicans to abusers and accusing Ted Cruz of trying to murder her is a bit rich. - LIZ
You know, I struggled to figure out where I wanted to draw the circle around that story because it’s so easy to skid into another conversation. Has AOC weaponized her story to poke her enemies? Of course she has. But you have to chalk that up to the game. I am always up for a conservation about the rules of engagement on that stuff, but it’s a different topic.
The only thing I truly care about is that we don’t lose sight of the facts of that day. Recognizing that it was terrifying is part of that. It’s funny though, in all the engagement I’ve seen on that podcast, newsletter and stream… it has become totally lost that AOC was evacuated because of the pipe bomb and not the storming of the dome.
I’m glad we could highlight that.

What’s with the long winded pompous partisan text dump emails? Is this The Atlantic? Keep it short people. Your not more serious because you don’t know how to edit. - MARTIN
A friend of mine once wrote a cover letter for a copy editing gig that read in totality: “Brevity is the soul of wit.”
To this day it might be my favorite contextual piece of writing.

Sorry for bringing up stimulus checks again. Why do Democrats like stimulus checks this time (I know some liberals that complained about them when George Bush did it) and why are Republicans against them this time when they are all about tax cuts and such and George Bush sent them? - ABE NORMAL
I have no idea. I’m honestly shocked that no one in the GOP has tried to offer more in direct funds to the people without the state and local aid they view as a bailout. Seems like a great bargaining chip to make the Dems look like big government porkers and effectively negotiate the total bill lower.
