Bill is missing so much of what is actually happening with voters because he has TDS and can’t unsee how “horrible” Trump is. Too bad he just can’t see that Kamala/Biden/Machine democrats are actually bigger frauds, crooks, liars than Trump is. Seems like a smart guy that is a bit too arrogant to realize how blind he is.
And Justin, you are far too kind to Bill. It is clear that if this whole interview shows one thing it’s that he didn’t learn a single lesson.
What in the actual? He thinks she ran a near flawless campaign, that she wasn’t anymore word salad prone than any other politician and she could not let her hair down because of the 100 day campaign? Oh brother. Bill, maybe take a sabbatical for a year - because it’s painful to hear you not get it as bad as this.
The issue with saying Kamala was being different than Biden is that she was framing this election as the end of democracy. Her big policy being a new homeowner line item on my tax form doesn’t cut it. Copycatting the existential threat’s big tips/overtime tax exemption policy doesn’t present her as different. There needed to be a big, clear vision for systematic change—maybe it’s justice system, maybe it’s labor standards to increase wages, but it def wasn’t invoking Dick Cheney.
Bill's perspective is valid, but I also get the impression that he doesn't want to see the other side. All postmortems on the Democrat side sound the same where they don't want to acknowledge what people were feeling. It's all very technocratic and risk adverse.
"Economy is doing awesome" without even an acknowledgement of the grocery prices.
"Don't want to get clipped and memed" but still want to go viral with Brat Summer.

I hope the Democrats listen to Bill. JD Vance does too
