No Other President Would Take a Victory Lap Like Trump At The UFC

Cabinet Chaos! DC Spit Takes at Trump Picks.

President-elect Donald Trump attended the UFC PPV this weekend in Madison Square Garden. He made his entrance in dramatic fashion.

Here is what it looked like from in the arena.

It’s a moment in time that cements Trump’s populist credentials with this testosterone-soaked demographic. Not just that, he had an nWo-sized entourage:

Elon Musk: CEO of Tesla and SpaceX.

Mike Johnson: Speaker of the House.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.: Nominated as head of the Department of Health and Human Services.

Dana White: CEO of UFC.

Donald Trump Jr.: Son of President-elect Trump.

Kid Rock: Musician.

Dan Bongino: Conservative commentator.

Tulsi Gabbard: Nominee for Director of National Intelligence.

Vivek Ramaswamy: Appointed to lead the Department of Government Efficiency.

Jelly Roll: Rapper and pop star.

This got me thinking, what would this situation look like with other presidents? More specifically, what would the corresponding events and entourages look like? Through careful analysis I have come up with the following hypothetical comparisons.

Barack Obama in 2012 attending a NBA Finals game between the Miami Heat and the Oklahoma City Thunder. “Call Me Maybe” thunders through the arena as his entourage makes their way to court side seats…

• House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.)

• Tech mogul Mark Zuckerberg

• Music icon Beyoncé and husband Jay-Z

• Environmental activist Al Gore

• A newly independent senator, Bernie Sanders

George W. Bush in 2004 attending the NASCAR Daytona 500. “Slow Jamz” by Twista featuring Kanye West and Jamie Foxx echoes through the infield as the entourage takes their seats in the luxury box.

• Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.)

• Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch

• Evangelical leader Jerry Falwell

• Country music star Toby Keith

• Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani

Bill Clinton in 1996 at the heavyweight match between Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield in Las Vegas. “This is as epic as Baz Luhrman’s Romeo + Juliet!” yells an onlooker. “Which I just saw in theaters!” he adds for clarity. “No Diggity” by Blackstreet featuring Dr. Dre booms as the entourage take their seats ringside.

• Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R-Miss.)

• Billionaire Ted Turner

• Film director Spike Lee

• Civil rights leader Jesse Jackson

• First Lady Hillary Clinton

Ronald Reagan in 1984 making a grand entrance into the Los Angeles Olympics closing ceremony. “The presence of the American president is doing a lot to take my mind off the San Ysidro McDonald’s Massacre,” says an attendee whilst shaking their head. “When a gunman opened fire in a McDonald’s restaurant, killing 21 people and wounding 19 others before being fatally shot by police.”

Lionel Richie sings “All Night Long” as the entourage take their seats.

• House Speaker Tip O’Neill (D-Mass.)

• Media mogul Ted Turner

• Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger

• Evangelical leader Jerry Falwell

• Olympic gold medalist Carl Lewis

Richard Nixon in 1972 at the World Series in Oakland. “This raises important conversations, not unlike ‘Maude’s Dilemma’ the two-part episode of the television show Maude in which Maude Findlay, portrayed by Bea Arthur, discovers she’s unexpectedly pregnant at 47 and decides to have an abortion. The episode was groundbreaking for its candid discussion of a controversial issue, sparking widespread debate and highlighting television’s role in addressing social topics,” says an onlooker.

“The Candy Man” by Sammy Davis Jr. plays as the entourage takes their seats.

• Vice President Spiro Agnew

• Team owner Charles Finley

• Pop artist Andy Warhol

• National Security Advisor Henry Kissinger

• Former astronaut Neil Armstrong

But in reality, the only other president that would probably want to make the kind of splash that Trump did at UFC is… John F. Kennedy in 1960. Except, he never got a second term. Still it’s kind of weird that Bobby Kennedy would have been there both times.
