Was the $15 minimum wage a red herring?
A lot of people thought Hootie was crying about real dolphins
Congress
I might just be projecting here, but I think the 15 dollar minimum wage was a red herring. Everyone involved knew that it wasn't valid under reconciliation (it seems obvious to me and I'm just some jamoke), but now they can say that they "pushed for the minimum wage increase, but the Republicans and "the system" shut us down". I expect we're going to see a lot of this, they won't spike the filibuster, they'll use reconciliation to pass a few things here and there, and then blame the whole lot of nothing they do otherwise on cocaine Mitch. - ANDREW
Not sure why the Republicans are even factored in here. As soon as the Dems went the reconciliation route that became a total inside job. Manchin is in new Mitch.
Trump
Trump’s ability to work the CPAC crowd isn’t the audience he needs to play nice with. It all comes down to if the money people stay pissed. If donations for midterms start coming with strings attached or not coming at all he’s a liability that will be cut loose. If the money people start to need a Republican Congress more than they need a pre-Trump, GOP that outcome looks different. - MIKE M
Here is how I think about this: Money backs people who win elections, if the new GOP is indeed a working class party than Trump will be a key figure.
What I don’t quite understand is what “cutting him off” looks like. The GOP establishment did everything they could to kill him off in 2016 when he was a game show host. I don’t think the establishment can do much more now that he’s a former president.
Cuomo
... why did you make me look at his chest? I mean, I thought we agreed months ago that the man wears nipple rings.
But seriously, boo pictures that make me revisit that weird period on twitter :P - MERRAN

Cuomo while Trump was president:
A valiant member of the resistance, standing up to tyranny.
Cuomo while Biden is president:
A lying sexual abuser, responsible for thousands of nursing home deaths.
The MSM can really turn on a dime, eh? - SCALE
In my mind mainstream coverage of Cuomo during the pandemic as more “Good Virus Daddy” and Trump was “Bad Virus Daddy.” But still Trump covered up a lot of stuff that is now looming larger.
Hootie crying about actual real dolphins
I always thought Darius Rucker was talking about the NFL team. Only just now did i realize that people could have thought he was talking about actual dolphins.
To everyone living outside of the USA, I'm sorry.- PETER

Haha 100% thought it was dolphins in the ocean and not Miami. TIL. - JASON
-
To answer the question, no I didn't know Darius was singing about the miami dolphins... But I can tell you this, as far as political commentary
I only want to be with yooooooooouuuuuuuu - BIG JIM
I appreciate the flattery but I can’t believe how much this blows my mind.
-
Yes, growing up in Saudi Arabia, I thought Hootie was talking about actual dolphins.
It didn't occur to me that it was the Dolphins NFL team until your Substack. - ELBASO

I owned the Hootie CD when it came out. Not being a huge sports fan I really thought he was talking about dolphins as the animal. I figured that’s why she was making fun of him for being a baby. I actually like the song a little less now. Who knew? - J

Only thing I can comment on... Post Malone's Hootie cover was good. I didn't know people were so confused by the Dolphins line. What I'm more confused by, though, is why is this song being associated with Pokemon's 25th anniversary? I know the song came out the year before Pokemon did, but I never associated the two together. Just seems odd to me. - NELSON
So yeah, in case you weren’t aware the cover was in celebration of Pokemon. Another layer of weirdness. Here is how I imagined it went down…
Pokemon: Hey Post Malone, we want you to do music for our anniversary.
Post Malone: Cool.
Pokemon: Can you rap our famous theme song?
Post Malone: No.
Pokemon: Can you sing our famous theme song?
Post Malone: No.
Pokemon: Can you write an original rap about Pokemon?
Post Malone: No.
Pokemon: What can you do?
Post Malone: Well… I’ve been listening to a lot of Hootie lately…

I'd actually assumed that Hootie's "Dolphins" line was a reference to the Live song Dolphins Cry. You live, you learn I guess. - MICHAEL
I actually considered making a reference to that song but assumed it was too inside 90s rock radio. Oh well…
Fauci
There is no Noble Lie. He has lied and endangered peoples lives so many times, and he has personally undermined science and the medical community to a dangerous degree.
I personally know people who discount what should be common sense level stuff just because Fauci happened to agree with it this week, until his inevitable reversal next week.
I personally know people who will not get the vaccine, not because they are anti-vax, but because Fauci came out and said that there was no point, you can't go back to normal even if you get it.
I was lucky enough to catch covid a few months ago with a super light case, and was confirmed to have the antibodies, so I'm sure not going to get in line in front of someone who actually needs it. But even if I hadn't I'd have to question the need myself, all because that two faced "doctor" decided that the vaccine isn't good enough this week.
He is the worst thing to happen to science, and we're all worse off every time he spouts off about stuff he either doesn't have any actual scientific evidence to back up, or is actively going against science in what I can only assume is trying to hurt people to further someone's political agenda.
Like Cuomo, how many thousands of lives do you have to endanger or end through your policy positions before you actually have to answer for your crimes against humanity and science? - ANDY
